iOS 6 To Be Released Few Hours From Now-New Features and What to Know Before Upgrading (SamarkaWorld)

Apple is going to release its latest generation of iOS (the most advanced Mobile operating system as said by Apple)  today (19 September 2012)  after a few hours.Though the actual time for releasing iOS 6 for update is still unknown but speculation suggests that it will be released for update at 10.00 a.m PST which was the time for release for iOS 4 and iOS 5.

 

 

So before upgrading you should know the devices which will support iOS 6 update.The compatibility chart is given below::

 

 

 iPhone ::        iPhone 3GS        iPhone 4     iPhone 4S        iPhone 5

iPod touch ::    iPod touch 4G              iPod touch 5G

iPad  ::                   iPad 2                        the new iPad

 

 

 

Though the above devices will receive iOS 6 update but there will be feature cuts for most of the above devices..

 

 

So lets look which of the major features of iOS 6 are coming to which devices ::

 

 

iOS 6 COMPATIBILITY ::

 

 

• iPhone ::

   

   

1. The iPhone 5 will receive all the features of iOS 6 update.

2. The iPhone 4S will also get almost all the features of iOS 6 features.

3. The iPhone 4 will also be deprived from most of the major features of iOS 6 except Passbook and Offline Reading List.

4. The iPhone 3GS will meet the same fate as that of iPod touch 4G with only Passbook ruling the device.

    

    

• iPod touch ::

   

   

1. The iPod touch 5G will receive all the features of iOS 6 except the feature to Facetime over cellular connection

2. The iPod touch 4G will not get most of the features except Passbook similar to that of  iPhone 3GS

 

 

• iPad ::

   

1. The new iPad will receive most of the iOS 6 features but the Panorama mode of the camera will be unsupported.

2. The iPad 2 will get a very small update of iOS 6 with no 3D flyover and turn by turn navigation nor Facetime over cellular connections.It will get the feature Offline reading list in safari

You might have heard that Apple had dropped the Google Maps App from iOS 6 which was there in the previous iOS versions.The new Apple maps are just gorgeous with 3D turning view,real time traffic and turn by turn navigation but sadly the features of Apple maps are not available for all countries.

• SIRI Improvements ::

Now with iOS 6 you can do more stuffs with SIRI.You can look for latest scores and stats on sports,look for movie reviews and also make reservations on restaurants.Now,you can launch an app just by asking SIRI to launch the app in your iOS device.SIRI can post on your behalf on Facebook and Twitter.

• Facebook ::

   

   

iOS 6 has Facebook deeply integrated in it.So you can post on wall,find friends,post your current location alongwith your post and even ask SIRI to post on behalf of you.and Facebook experience will be much faster than before.

 

 

• Photo Stream ::

Now you can share just the photos you want, with just the people you choose. Simply select photos from the Photos app, tap the Share button, choose who you want to share your photos with, and they’re on their way. Friends using iCloud on an iOS 6 device or a Mac running Mountain Lion get the photos delivered immediately in the Photos app or iPhoto. You can even view Shared Photo Streams on Apple TV. If the folks you’re sharing with aren’t using an Apple device, they can view your photos on the web. People can like individual photos and make comments. And you can share as much as you want: Your Shared Photo Streams don’t count against your iCloud storage, and they work over Wi-Fi and cellular networks.

 

 

• Passbook ::

Your boarding passes, movie tickets, retail coupons, loyalty cards, and more will be now all in one place. With Passbook, you can scan your iPhone or iPod touch to check in for a flight, get into a movie, and redeem a coupon. You can also see when your coupons expire, where your concert seats are, and the balance left on that all-important coffee bar card. Wake your iPhone or iPod touch, and passes appear on your Lock screen at the appropriate time and place — like when you reach the airport or walk into the store to redeem your gift card or coupon. And if your gate changes after you’ve checked in for your flight, Passbook will even alert you to make sure you’re not relaxing in the wrong terminal.

 

 

• Facetime Over Cellular Connection ::

   

   

Now you can do Facetime over cellular connection too if your cellular connection supports it.It is available for iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.

 

 

• Panorama Mode ::

   

   

iOS 6 now comes with a Panorama Mode in The camera app which takes widescreen photos of 28MP as you swipe along a landscape of a large size.It is compatible only with iPhone5,iPhone 4S and iPod touch 5G.

 

 

• Phone Features ::

The Phone app for iPhone on iOS 6 now supports many unique features.Now when you are busy or on a meeting you can decline a call and reply with a message or show the appropriate message like “I am on my way” ,”I will call you Later ” or even give “Do not Disturb” option to the incoming caller.

 

 

• Mail ::

   

   

The Mail app in iOS had been upgraded to include a simple intuitive interface for streamlined view and also includes a VIP List for important mails.

 

 

• Safari ::

   

Safari Now adds data in a reading list which is independent of network connection.So you can view the items in the reading List while you are offline.

 

 

• Music ::

   

The Music app for iPhone and iPod touch had been upgraded with a new interface and now the buttons are Grey instead of black.The volume slider on the iOS 6 Music app now adjusts its colour according to the tiltation of the device by connecting it to the Gyroscope component.

 

 

 

It is also expected that iOS 6 will come with a power efficient high quality audio playback.

 

 

• New Clock App for iPad ::

   

   

The clock app for iPad had been updated and the clocks now looks a little stylish with no markings of time on the clock icon.

 

 

• Accessibility ::

   

   

iOS 6 will come with improved and updated accessibility features featuring hearing aids,mono audio,Voice Over and other accessibility features.

 

 

 

These are the main features of iOS 6 although Apple had updated new API’s for iOS 6 and thus we can expect performance improvements in iOS 6 and also some Bug Fixes.
